Dynamic FM has delivered a multi-phase programme of modular boiler upgrades at Lancaster University’s Energy Centre 1, a critical component in the University’s wider Net Zero by 2035 strategy. Appointed via the University’s Mechanical Framework Contract, Dynamic FM designed, procured, and delivered the full replacement of legacy Robey/Loos boilers with hydrogen-ready Hamworthy Upton modular boilers — increasing total heating capacity to 8,400kW. Works were carried out in a live environment throughout the winter months, with a phased approach ensuring uninterrupted heat supply to the campus at all times. The project included full BMS integration, new flue installations, off-site pipework prefabrication, and seamless coordination with the University’s biomass boiler and CHP systems. Delivered on time and within budget across all phases, the upgrades have achieved close to 20% energy savings for the University.
