Accrington College Energy Centre

Dynamic FM delivered a full design and construction of a new energy centre at Accrington College, completed on time and within budget between January and May 2022. The mechanical scope encompassed a comprehensive refurbishment of the 1MW plant room, including the installation of new boilers, pumps, valves, and Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICVs), together with new thermal insulation across all new and existing services. The electrical works included a new three-phase BMS control panel, all associated control wiring, new 25mm SWA cabling, renewed earth bonding conductors, and upgraded plant room lighting and emergency systems. Carried out in a live college environment during winter term time, the project required careful management of shutdown sequences to avoid any disruption to college operations. As added value, Dynamic FM also conducted a complimentary condition survey of three additional plant rooms on site.
