Dynamic FM Secures Substation Upgrade Project at The Printworks
Dynamic FM is continuing its successful partnership with Cushman & Wakefield through the delivery of a technically demanding substation upgrade project at the Printworks, Manchester, due to begin in early 2026.
The project forms a key part of the Printworks’ long-term electrical infrastructure strategy, designed to futureproof the site and provide additional capacity to meet the growing power demands of the building’s diverse tenants. The upgrade will enable a transition away from gas-fired systems toward electric-based heating and catering solutions, such as air source heat pumps, as part of the Printworks’ ongoing decarbonisation pathway.
Our scope includes the detailed design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a full new low-voltage distribution system — including a new rooftop LV switch panel and enclosure, rising busbar installation from the basement substation to roof level, and all associated containment, cabling, earthing and builders works.
Working in close coordination with Electricity North West (ENWL), who are delivering the new 1MVA transformer installation, Dynamic FM will ensure full integration with the existing electrical infrastructure while maintaining safe, uninterrupted operation of the building throughout the works. The project will also include comprehensive testing, commissioning, and training of on-site staff, supported by full digital operation and maintenance documentation.
This award follows our recent awarding of the project to install new 220 kWp rooftop photovoltaic system at the Printworks and further strengthens our partnership with Cushman & Wakefield. Together, we continue to deliver essential energy and infrastructure upgrades that support the sustainability, reliability and long-term operation of one of Manchester’s most recognised commercial destinations.
